> Landmark Somerset West building nears completion

Somerset West, Cape Town: Arun Place 6, a building which is changing the face of Somerset West is nearing completion. Situated on Sir Lowry’s Pass Road close the Vergelegen Medi-Clinic, the building designed by local firm 2 AD Space Architects, is already creating a stir amongst locals. With a curved ‘floating” concrete wall spanning two storeys and the entire length of the building, Arun Place 6 offers A- grade office space to professionals. Designed for Arun Holdings, the 4340m² building incorporates state-of-the-art technology and designer finishes. Explains Dewaal Ritter of 2 AD Space Architects: “The building is the culmination of a total development started several years ago. Every building added new benefits to the larger scheme, in terms of design and practicality. In this last building attention was given to maximizing the views, rentable areas, parking, sun control, aesthetics and tenant requirements. I think we are reaping the result of all these as the building is definitely of landmark status in the greater Somerset West area.” Arun Place 6 is the last- and flagship building of Arun Place.

According to Ritter, the building was designed to offer the best office space available in Somerset West. The building blends into the existing fabric of the development on the northeast side, while maximizing its presence next to the access road on the southwest. The much talked-about roadside façade of the building was designed to shield traffic noise from this important vehicular artery of Somerset West. “The curving southwest façade therefore acts not only as a sound barrier, but also as an important visual reference for motorists, ensuring that Arun Place remains a sought after and memorable address” explains Ritter. Arun Place 6 will offer professional suites and a coffee shop, serving the entire Arun Place development.
